ELIGIBILITY & CRITERIA

To apply for funds an organization must:

  • Be a registered Canadian charity

  • Offer services in at least one of the two priority areas described below

  • Meet all criteria for funding

Exclusive areas for funding

  • Environmental protection: projects that will help to establish and maintain ecological balance by protecting or reclaiming wildlife and its habitat.

  • Community economic development: projects that develop the skills and capacities of individuals, groups and organizations so that they become economically self-sufficient.

Projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Demonstrate how the support the Foundation's mission.

  • Demonstrate the ability to become self-sufficient.

  • Have funding from other organizations. If the project is a new initiative then demonstrate funding from an "umbrella" well-recognized organization, such as the United Way.

  • Provide all information requested by the Foundation.

  • Demonstrate a history of sound fiscal management and responsibility by the individuals or organizations involved.

  • Provide a well defined business plan, describing use of personnel and application of our funds.

  • Demonstrate financial need.

  • Do not contribute to political parties.

  • Agree to provide a six-month and year-end report relating to the project and its effectiveness in fulfilling the Foundation's Mission.

Duration of Grants

It is our intention to provide start-up funds to develop projects to the point of self-sufficiency. Funding may be available for up to 3 to 4 years.

We are interested in working directly with people involved with the projects we fund to help develop the projects to the point of self-sufficiency.
